At the Mi-Light members meeting of Oct 8, Ed Bailey, Division Director, gave a presentation about the photonics-related programs at NMC. During his presentation, Ed talked about NMC's broad-based curriculum includes course work in photonics and robotics. He mentioned NMC students helped local police recover a drowning victim. Funds for this initiative were provided by the 21st Century Jobs Fund, a MSF program designed to accelerate the growth and diversification of Michigan’s economy. The MEDC, a public-private partnership between the state and local communities, provides administrative support for the 21st Century Jobs Fund. The MEDC markets Michigan and provides the tools and environment to drive job creation and investment.
